About company The name of the Center - ADMICOR is for ADMIralteisky KORablik (admiralty warship) abbreviation. And it is not obiter. Our Center was created in 1991 in Saint-Petersburg at The Main Admiralty, the golden spire of which is crowned with that symbol. A group of naval officers were at the cradle of the Center. An oldest engineering institute of higher education in Russia – Naval Engineering School of Higher Education in the name of F. E. Dzerzhinsky, also known as Dzerzhinka (now Naval Engineering Institute – VMII) was one of the founders. The time, the place of the birth, and naval background had predicted our Center name as well as the logo in which you can see a stylized image of the famous spire with a golden ship. The year 1991 was very hard one for the whole country as well as for naval schools. This prompted us to look for new ways of providing financial security for education correspondent to the economy steeply evolution from socialism to capitalism.
We decided that there specialized commercial organizations should be placed between market environment and federal budget organizations (with their participation). It was almost impossible, but a favorable situation had arisen and …
11 July 1991 The Naval Scientific and Commercial Center ADMICOR was born.
The Center “became an orphan” after its birth, because the law prohibited to be an incorporator for naval schools and officers. The newborn Center was left on its own resources.
However, those who “stayed at helm” did not surrender, but started looking for application of their skills in the coming into being market. We decided to stay in the field of implementation activity and to look for own “business niche” just in this sphere.
In 1992 a good luck brought to us the first successful business project. This was a manufacture of remarkable calorific heaters for garden houses and cottages. We named the heater EMELIA and organized the manufacture of it at one of the city plants. The heater became popular at once and surely serves up till now to its owners in the vast area from The Baltic to The Pacific Ocean and from Polar Regions to Armenia. The project has brought to us the first fairly good income and self-reliance. However, the policy of “free prices” initiated by E. Gaidar government had resulted in commercial inexpediency of carrying on with this project and we were forced to terminate it and to look for new projects.
In 1994 – 1995 we participated in stevedoring, providing services to rolled ferrous metals exporters. We obtained a valuable experience of foreign economic activity. Today this experience has proved to be useful. But … our state, by introducing so called currency band, put the tin hat on this activity. The end of 1995 forced us, actually, to terminate the activity completely and to dismiss all the company employees keeping going on with episodic deals. That was rather hard time for the Center, but even that did not make us abandon our plans to build our future with own hands.
Since the spring of 1996 we began co-operation with the well-known entity KINEF (Kirishinefteorgsintez), more precisely with its plant named IZOFLEX, which was commissioned on 4 July 1994.
Experts in roofing and waterproofing know very well the brand IZOFLEX. For those not familiar, inform that now it is a widely known manufacture of the bitumen-polymer rolled fuse materials IZOPLAST, IZOELAST, MOSTOPLAST, and KINEPLAST. However, in 1996 the most part of consumers did not know its products and the young collective of the plant had difficulties with distribution.
We were successful in promotion the products in the market of Saint-Petersburg and beyond its borders: in the Baltic states, countries of the Pacific Ocean coasts, the Kola Peninsula and in Siberia. And everywhere: in Saint-Petersburg, the Leningrad Region, Moscow, Surgut and in many other cities of Russia and CIS the materials won recognition of builders and owners. The plants products had been certified in Russia, Holland, Estonia, and Byelorussia.
We were the first commercial dealer of IZOFLEX plant and till now have strong cooperation with its professional collective. This cooperation has brought to our business stability and confidence in the future. In the following years we worked for rising distribution of the plant’s waterproof materials and widening the range of related products
We went through the crisis of 1998 practically painless due to reliance on the home manufacture – IZOFLEX plant (NPO KINEF).
In 2001, ,with good attitude and looking into the future confidently, we met 10-years of Center ADMCOR anniversary.
2002-2003were quite successful in respect of expanding our business. One after another, two successful projects were launched:
The first – soft tile and related materials selling, that has grown into creation of the low-rise construction procurement department. The project has become a logical follow up of our long-term presence in the roofing materials market.
The second – Holland aviation gasoline AVGAS 100LL of SHELL supply for Russian piston aviation. The project also was not fortuitous and had a long-standing, almost eight year, prehistory. It arose at a suggestion of our Baltic partners, and although did not started at once, in 2003 due to a favorable situation it was launched and began to grow.
Both the projects went not easy in the beginning, but have become quite successful further. The Department of Avia Fuel and Lubrication Materials and Equipment today provides the bigger part of the Center financial turnover. For more details about these projects see special site sections dedicated to them.
The year 2006 – the year of its 15-th anniversary, the Center met as a secure company outgrown the bounds of small and middle business. The structure, the reliable collective of professionals had been formed, a long-term authority and a good name had been won in the North-West, Russian, and international markets. We kept carrying on diversification of our business, retaining the general line to implementation of new products and services.
In 2007the general director of the Center was recognized as a Best Top-Manger in Russia and awarded with an honorary diploma and included in the Blue Book of Russian Business
The year 2008 gave us a possibility once more to prove our worth in the not easy work of implementation. We created the Department of Industrial Client on the base of the domestic product of Moscow State Academy of Investment Personnel (GASIS) and EkoMIRT company – RVR technology. Within one year we have implemented this environmentally friendly and economically accessible technology in Saint-Petersburg market and are expecting its rapid evolution.
The crisis year 2009 we went through smooth, not without a loss of some sensible part of construction materials distribution, but at that remaining a profitable company and not losing a single employee. As before we are full of optimism and running on our business of implementation.
